The Artist

Ted Barr was born in Constance Romania, 1957 on the shores of the Black Sea and at the age of four his family immigrated to Israel.


In 1980, after release from his compulsory army service, Barr dedicated seven years to intensive study in his fields of interest: Symbolism, Ancient Egypt, Numerology and Kabala in Israel. He then went on to earn a M.B.A degree in marketing from the Tel Aviv University, graduating in 1990.


In 1995 Barr started seven years of private art lessons under the Israeli master Shlomo Tzafrir in Old Jaffa where his first exhibition opened to the public in 2001.


Barr has since exhibited his work in New York, Miami, Palm Beach, Dallas Montreal, Kathmandu, San Antonio, Perugia, Milan, Venice, Guadalajara, Berlin, Cannes, and Paris. 


Barr is a published author having written ‘Krombie’, (1990), a children's book and ‘Frau Gruber's Farm’, an allegory about the Hitler regime published in Hebrew in 2006 and translated into English in 2011.

In October 2008 Barr founded the Current Art Group, an international artist gathering, with over 6600 members worldwide.


Since 2009 Barr curates art shows for Current Art Group members in Miami, NYC, Palm Beach, Paris, Venice and Tel Aviv and leads workshops world-wide where he teaches his multi-layered tar technique that he developed and uses in his art works.


In recent years Barr has been collaborating with other artists and companies in the fields of fashion, jewelry and furniture design.


In 2013 Barr collaborated with Art on Fashion®, a niche online fashion retailer based in the U.K. that produced clothing based on Barr's Deep Space series artwork.


In 2015 Barr collaborated with Tifa Arts to produce a line of women's accessories including handbags and belts. In the same year he collaborated with the fashion design team Label2 to create a capsule collection of clothing, 'Ted Barr for Label2' based on his Cycle of Life series paintings. The collection premiered at Milan Fashion Week.


In 2016 Barr collaborated with B Silver to design a line of hand-crafted silver jewelry based on his Deep Space paintings.


Barr is currently working on a line of hand-made iron furniture in collaboration with Tifa Arts and Arteferro, a leading company in aesthetic iron design.

Barr is the father of two children and currently lives in Ramat Hasharon Israel.
