As Above So Below

The theme 'As Above So Below' is the dynamic context of Ted Barr's body of work. This context of exploration and visual experience gave birth to 'Deep Space' - the first series of paintings in which the artist shares with us the magnificence of the cosmic world and the nature and expression of the duality it represents.

The second series of paintings is 'Human Formation' inspired by the photography of Lennart Nilsson of embryo's development in the womb.

From those two series emerged the 'Cycle of Life' series in which we observe and experience the parallels in the artist's exploration of deep space and its reflection on our planet and in the smallest of particles as we know them like human body cell activity and that of embryos. Barr explores the origins of life and what possibly preceded them and takes us along for the journey.
